Australian Govt. supports program to promote Naga soft toys

A livelihood enhancement program for Naga women by training them in soft toys making with Naga traditional touch is being supported by the Australian government’s Direct Aid Program (DAP) managed by the Australian Consulate-General in Kolkata. It supports projects that have a strong development focus, contribute to poverty reduction, and strengthen communities in India.

Nagaland based skilling organization Pinnacle Skills is a partner of the program tasked with training women.

Dr. Yan Murry, Chief executive of Pinnacle Skills met Mr. Hugh Boylan, Australian Consul-General in Kolkata and apprised him about the training progress and also presented him the creations made by the trainees. The consulate is looking to place orders for customized soft toys made by the trainees. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Consul-general Mr Kevin Goh and Senior Research and Visit officer Angelina Nair.
